Day Four and Five

Day Four

Oh last night was not so good!!! Up all night with John (I think the Benadryl had an opposite affect on him) and with Issac because he was having nightmares. I know I will miss these days but this morning we were dragging.... on top of that I took him to urgent care (for a quick visit) we waited over 2 hours ... not cool with a 3 year old. I have to say for John lacking sleep he was extremely patient and I was so proud of him. These days are a real struggle for me. My checklist is not getting crossed off, my house is dirty, I'm tired and just getting by, for goodness sake I need a shower and a nap. But at some point yesterday I just looked into the sun, for some reason I find God there, maybe it's because it pierces right through me. You know how if you look directly at the sun it's painful but beautiful all wrapped up in one... Maybe that's how looking at God is? So there I was on the porch looking at the sun through the trees and I just said okay God this is not my day its Your day! What do you want me to do because I have nothing left right now to give these wild boys of mine ... and I sat there listening to them playing with each other, loving each other, in the leaves and mud of our backyard ... I thanked God for the stillness in the chaos. I thanked him for Matthew, Issac and John. Then I got up and played with my kids in the leaves. We had the best time ... everything else could wait another day!

Breakfast: Coco Smoothie
Lunch: Tuna Salad (straight from the bowl)
Snack: Almonds
Dinner: Thai Express

Day Five

Today we went back to the doctor but instead went to our regular doctor. Last night John had his first night terror ... and we didn't recognize it until I was in her office explaining it. Issac has them about 3 times a week. But this was different and unexpected ... isn't it funny we can be so familiar with things but when its out of context we can be blind to it.

Tonight we had our annual women's gathering and it was wonderful! There was a part of me that wanted to stay home and not be social ... being drained this week will do that to me. But I went and had a wonderful time ... truth was spoken, hearts were filled and good friends gathered. Life is good indeed. My friend Sydney spoke on handling stress in the life of faith and how we can think of what our heart needs to prevent depletion.

Breakfast: Sausage, Spinach, Onion Egg Bake
Lunch: Tuna Salad

Day Three

So much to be Thankful for today .... John's preschool for sure ... He slept great through the night and seemed much better so we sent him to school. Thankful that allowed me to attend my favorite yoga class! It was great today ... I left feeling such peace and strength! Peace and strength do not always go together ... but in Adriel's yoga class she pairs the two so well. Thankful that John took a nap and that I only had to sit with him for 30 minutes before he feel asleep. Thankful that today my cravings were down and I am feeling full faster. Both of those really help when you have eliminated so much from your diet. Thankful for this beautiful weather and the beautiful mountains that are starting to change colors.

Day Three

Breakfast: Sausage, Spinach, Onion Bake
Lunch: Meatloaf, Kale and Carrot
Snack: Lacroix and almonds
Dinner: Leftover Thai Express

All my meals were leftovers today. Our fridge was filling up so I decided the boys could have some chicken nuggets and broccoli. They have been great about this detox and they needed a kid food kind of night. Plus this afternoon I made them some pumpkin muffins for breakfast (you know the flour and sugar kind ... I did use half whole wheat flour) !

Day Two

John was up through the night last night so today was a pajama wearing, book reading, movie watching kind of day! I tried to get some house work done too but John was not in the mood. He cried and was very moody most of the day.... Even fought nap time as I sat in his room with him for 2 hours. So today when I would love just a bite of chocolate ... I ate almonds and drank hot tea instead.

Day One

Preparation is Key to Success ... Life gets in the way too often ... and I am easily thrown off course!
This week I have an event every night of the week ... this would normally have me delay starting. But thats not reality ... we have social events, soccer games and date nights. I have to be able to fold this into normal life and not just being in a bubble. I am also using this detox to work on other areas in my life that I have let go recently. First sleep, it is and has been a major issue for me ever since having John. That pregnancy messed up my hormones, cortisol levels and adrenal glands. So my plan is to be in bed at 10 pm and then lights out at 10:30 pm ... giving me 30 minutes to read Women Food God. Reading is my second area that I have not made time for.

Preparing for 21 day sugar detox

This has been a long time coming ... I have been on again off again for this past year. I will stick to a plan for 1-3 months and then off plan for the same. With this pattern I have lost and gained the same 10-15 lbs again and again. We have a trip coming up for November 5th ... Well from tomorrow to November 5th is exactly 21 days ...
